Point of View by gyabanComment by adigitalromance: Originally posted by gyaban: I'm not sure to understand your reasoning. You're of course free to think what you want, but with all respect due, many photos (even achieved with no or minimal editing) are nothing that could be seen with one's eyes directly (lens baby, B&W, wide angle, fisheye, long exposure, etc.). Consequently, I don't believe that if a scene can't be seen as such with one's eyes, then it automatically isn't photography. I also don't believe photography can only depict hard cold reality, many other uses are possible. IMHO, of course. |
I 100% agree with you. Well said.
Part of the appeal for me to your composite images is that they look photo-realistic. In a lot of cases with composites, that's hard to pull off.
I am a big fan of conceptual/abstract/surreal photography and the appeal to that style for me is when it looks like a photograph at first, then you realize it can't be...but that part of you wants to believe that it is and that it was taken in some weird world of altered physics and extraordinary coincidences.
I suppose it depends on one's...Point of View. |

Thanks.
For the tree, it's just basic layer masking stuff: I put all the layers relative to the tree in a group, then created a mask for that group. For that mask, I used a photo of my face, modified so that the face was fully white over a black background (i.e. a mask). The effect was almost done. To complete the effect, I removed some leaves here and there (to create an irregular border), and added some shadows (to suggest a human face even more). |

Point of View by gyabanComment by Alex_Petrini: Not your best image, but your imagination and skills are always amazing. The impressive side of your creations is that you never copy any of the stuff (I mean tutorials) that we can find on the net. 70% of the expert entries here are only imitations of something that other people have already done. I try to do the same but I don't have your skills. You got awesome results very fast (one week for an artwork is a very short time). |
