I leave a few words here although the cover of this stunning essay is my least favorite.

This collection of shots counterbalances salmiakki essay.
You presented us with the "Idol of Kruger Park".
This idol seems to have been a convoluted creation of the terra incognita; the consequence of a turmoil of the earth when everything was boiling and spewing and smaller fragments were finding a shape to live in. It emerged slowly this idol and painfully raised itself and became an independent moving form (an old aspiration of the mountains)

and managed to live close to earth, even moving as graciously as it could manage. No need to a good eye sight since the world above does not present much interestâ€Â¦..

â€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦.
Anyway, enough of my rambling. I tend to appropriate everything I see by looking deep and that's what art does for us. This park of yours Herman and the country you live in is filled with marvels and I love to get glimpses of it that I normally do not get from payed assignments.

I can picture you, camera in your hands, in front of those creatures.
They are beautiful.

I can hear the slow moving feet, walking across the field. I can see wind caressing and lowering the grass.
They are peaceful.

They are beautiful, they are peaceful, they bring tears to my eyes...
I don't know why...

But How we view life differently is also part of the life.

I loved this essay and as Ubique says, it's going to be enthralling for DPCers who are not as lucky as you. It was indeed. I suppose in the same way it's probably exotic when we have to stop for the reindeer (in Lapland at least). I particularly liked image numbers 3 and 6. It feels like you were taking quite a risk getting so close. Thanks for sharing!

This is so exotic to me. We have zoos here, which have there purpose, but they are sad environments for viewing animals. It's amazing how close you have gotten to these creatures in what appears to be a natural environment. I also like the commentary you've included with each image. Tidbits of knowledge and observations. A fascinating animal and a well told story.

Excellent guided tour of the white rhino, Herman. There's a lot of them about just now, though I probably shouldn't be saying that? Your photos are interesting especially due to being not all the same processing treatment, which was a good idea for shifting the attention around various aspects and parts of the animals, and their various attendants too. The tick shot is a great example! But my favourite is the egret boy scout troop. Very closely followed by 03. This essay kept my attention, and I see these animals in the wild almost every day, so I reckon it is going to be totally enthralling for our DPC friends who aren't so lucky as us! Nice work, and thank you.
