Hero Worshipby MeMex2Comment by PenelopeK: I wonder if you considered cropping out the left third or so? Even without those people in the image one immediately assumes this pose is being done for an audience :-) To my eyes, the image would come across more as a portrait that way, and feel less cluttered overall. Nice light on the statue. |

Hero Worshipby MeMex2Comment by MadMan2k: From the onlookers and the lady taking a picture it seems like a significant event, whether it was or not. |

Amenby MeMex2Comment by Paul: I think this is a lovely image, I appreciate how you have wanted for the dynamic element to appear (at least I hope you did! I like to think so). You had a hard job to decide on the rotation of the image with the horizontal slope and the many verticals and other horizontals - and even the distance between the top of the writing and the top of your frame.
There are a few things I might have done differently, I offer them here not by way of a critique (it's your image), but by way of sharing my own perspective and way of seeing.
I'd have seen if the wall, in heavy highlight, could have been recovered - there are many tools that will do this; I'd have been unable to resist a monochrome image - although I do appreciate that I have been culturally conditioned to expect that with certain street work. I go a bit vignette made too!!
My preferences aside, it's a really engaging image - full of message and life. I always have a soft spot for a bit of blur, so I'm really pleased you chose to include that element.
Cheers

Occupiedby MeMex2Comment by nam: OH, nice job, Jane. Congratulations on the top ten finish. Cool image. Probably too subtle for many - me included - as I didn't give it the attention it deserved. Sorry :( |
