Horsepowerby MeMex2Comment by MeMex2: Thanks so much Nikki. I know you consider your votes carefully so I appreciate that. I am finding that irony is what does it for me.
I do not know if this photo would register with people who do not know that the Amish community do not believe in or use electricity
and this man happens to be standing in what looks like a major electrical power station.
My husband was driving and I caught this out of the corner of my eye and just screamed. I shot it from an over pass and had to do it quickly
as we were blocking traffic and cars were skidding around us and my husband was fuming.
I appreciate the comments that I got and especially to know that it appears too sharp. I'll be sure to watch that.
Thanks again Nikki...and to everyone who commented. Comments are getting scarce and I appreciate every one of them. |

Horsepowerby MeMex2Comment by nam: One of my very few 10's. I love the story, the contrast, the irony. |

'spank the unimaginative" Ubique by MeMex2Comment by Paul: A trick, and a good one too. I love juxtapositions and this one works so well - it feels surreal and communicates a sense of irony somehow.
Nicely conceived and made. |

Horsepowerby MeMex2Comment by Melethia: Great juxtaposition and lovely high contrast. Just a bit too sharp, perhaps, as it creates artifacts in the wires, but that's almost impossible to avoid at DPC sizes. |

'spank the unimaginative" Ubique by MeMex2Comment by ubique: My immediate (literally instantaneous) thought has purged all other possible interpretations from my mind ... the guy looks exactly like Colin Hay. He was once World Famous in Australia for the song Down Under which includes the fabulous line, "Where women glow and men plunder", to say nothing of, "He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich". Perhaps you need to be Australian to get the delicate nuance. It's awfully subtle.
The cat, on the other hand, doesn't look like any of the heroes of my youth. Lucky cat.
The picture is weird and inexplicable, so that stacks up in your favour.
Interesting? 'Course it is! Vegemite, Colin Hay, mystery cat; what more could you want? Thank you. |
