Chrisby MinsoPhotoComment by PennyStreet: Very nice cat picture, beautiful details on the face due to a perfect dof choice. So far as the original, this is so different that it's hard to compare them but I much prefer this view to the close cropped one. And I like the natural light much better than the flash. |

Chrisby MinsoPhotoComment by theraindew: good work on bringing out the colors.. especially in the eyes. Shallow DOF usually adds clarity to the image. but kinda feel that here its a little distracting. nevertheless a great shot worthy of an 8 |

Spud Allureby MinsoPhotoComment by J-Me: Really creative. I'm sure that this will catch a few "hmmmm's" because the reflection give the entire shot an out of focus look until you train your eyes to adjust to it and see that ti's the reflection that's the cause of the effect. I'm wondering if perhaps, cropping it down so that there was less reflective area might have been a help in that aspect? 7 |

Chrisby MinsoPhotoComment by giantmike: A very nice pet portrait with good depth of field and composition. Much better clarity than the original. The only thing that the original photo has that this doesn't is a real mood. The cat looks ready to pounce there, which gives the viewer a sense for the temperament of the cat. |

The Memory Remainsby MinsoPhotoComment by salmiakki: Saw your post in the sub club thread. I would certainly hold off doing anything with de-saturation. Maybe just me, but I think this practice of selective desaturation is somewhat gimmicky. Sure, Spielberg pulled it off, but on DPC, I personally do not think it really works. At least I have yet to see an example that would make me give it a high score.
I do think framing the headstone a bit tighter may have helped. You do have some negative space at the top so can afford to lose a little bit. I wonder if you had placed the rose at the foot of the gravestone, rather than on the top? It feels a bit awkward there somehow and not natural.
