ISO? Aperture?? I thought I just had to click a button or something. by MinsoPhotoComment by spiritualspatula: I saw you post this in a thread and figured I'd give you a comment due to your own comments.
I didn't vote here, but if I did, I probably would have voted this somewhat lower, as well. As a general photograph, it is executed well, with a possible exception being the degree to which your bag is obscured. It's like a blackhole. However, if it weren't dark, the photo would look busy. This brings me to the main reason I would vote the way I would- This shot is, by its very nature, extremely unchaotic. It's quite obviously posed with a large number of props in a very controlled environment. Admittedly, there are other shots with various numbers of these elements to them, but you're not moving or doing anything in the shot. It's static. An example of how you could keep your theme and add something more dynamic and chaotic to things would be to make it appear as though you were dropping something. I also think the fact that you're looking directly at the camera really adds to this static feeling- it's a testament to the viewer that things are contrived, that you are aware of them as a subject, and that the viewer is not in fact glimpsing something in action.
Anyway, my point wasn't to be harsh or anything, more just that I can relate to the feeling of "what the hell?" after voting ends, and frustration without an end is simply aimless. ;) |
