I like this, it engages, it focuses in the right place for the mood and falls of nicely. The added? overlay well suits the piece and I like the duality of the background. Interesting. 8

Lovely approach to what could have been an 'ordinary' portrait. Dappled light on faces makes me a little nervous, but I think that's a taste issue, not a a technique one, as you handle it well. The hotspots under and around the nose could use a little taming - but that may be exacerbated by jpg compression, and I would rather call that on a quality print. Nice one.

Not so much a "recreation" as a more down-to-earth variation.

I really love this image. A fabulous portrait with what looks like a lensbaby or pinhole. Not sure the overlay is needed. All this being said, except for it being a portrait, this is radically different from the original, which uses lighting for its impact.

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

Image grain and/or texture overlay can either work for a photo or work against it. Here it works in spades. It gives texture, dimension and a sense of age/time. This takes on the characteristics of an old and time worn photograph. One that we spot while turning the pages in a family album. Lighting is great and love the details I see in this portrait. Well done. I only have one tiny critique/observation. There is image grain and 'texture' overlay all throughout the background, except there is what looks to be a smooth/bald patch just to this man's right. It just looks bare and out of place with the rest.
