Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by sfalice: I like the intricate nature of this formation with its many details and still a fine over-all pattern. And indeed, the challenge will be focusing to get the very best out of your fantastic opportunity.
You might think about taking something to shade the lighting/glare, if only a file folder. Then if a tripod isn't possible, maybe a monopod would be okay? |

Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by Cory: Good idea Bear... :) Yeah, I've already thought of that, and I think the museum will allow me to tripod it up... If I'm lucky they might even turn out the interior lights..
The other thing I figured out later is that you can just press the front of the 100 up against the glass to hold it steady, problem with that is when the subject is too close to the glass... Good thing is that it gets rid of all of those nasty reflections...... |

Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by Bear_Music: Having some fun with subject matter, I see :-) You'll get the hang of holding focus soon enough. If you're hand-holding these, it's time to start tripodding them, since the minerals aren't moving. Then you can stop down, get some more DOF. |

Dioptaseby CoryComment by jomari: Beautiful rich colour and intriguing forms. It's sort of like architecture meets jewelery. |

Dioptaseby CoryComment by sfalice: Good colors; sharpness.
Wonder how it would look cropped a little closer removing some of the 'white' space. |

Dioptaseby CoryComment by sonniejake: Sparkle! Love the blue - I like the shallow DOF, but am curious how it would be with a deeper dof. |
