Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by menele: Just echoing the other comments really, great subject matter but the focus and grain let it down a little. Looking forward to seeing more though! |

Azurite on Malachiteby CoryComment by TCGuru: VERY nice. I love the focal point. Nice darkness and blur around the edges for icons too. Plus, I am a fan of blue. Anything blue makes me smile so bonus points there :)
From the thumb I thought it was a landscape :) haha |

Azurite on Malachiteby CoryComment by Yo_Spiff: Very cool. I've been using my entry from last year's puzzle macro challenge as my desktop at work for quite some time now. Time to change it. |

Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by JokersSoul: Little bit grainy and out of focus, but the subject matter is wonderful. The color and lighting is great! |

Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by sfalice: I like the intricate nature of this formation with its many details and still a fine over-all pattern. And indeed, the challenge will be focusing to get the very best out of your fantastic opportunity.
You might think about taking something to shade the lighting/glare, if only a file folder. Then if a tripod isn't possible, maybe a monopod would be okay? |

Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by Cory: Good idea Bear... :) Yeah, I've already thought of that, and I think the museum will allow me to tripod it up... If I'm lucky they might even turn out the interior lights..
The other thing I figured out later is that you can just press the front of the 100 up against the glass to hold it steady, problem with that is when the subject is too close to the glass... Good thing is that it gets rid of all of those nasty reflections...... |

Crystalline Goldby CoryComment by Bear_Music: Having some fun with subject matter, I see :-) You'll get the hang of holding focus soon enough. If you're hand-holding these, it's time to start tripodding them, since the minerals aren't moving. Then you can stop down, get some more DOF. |
