Can You Find Me?

Comment by wingy:
despite this being a black challenge, this seems like it had insufficient lighting and is too far underexposed. Better lighting, for example lighting from the side that would catch only parts of the object and leave the rest shadowed, might help the shot.

Comment by Olyuzi:
I find the DOF to be too narrow and the bg color to be unattractive. I also don't find anything to distinguish your picture of this very commonplace subject.

Comment by Drake:
Smaller aperature would yield better DOF.

Little bit of noise and could be sharper. Next time try a bit more light, sometimes that will help. Pretty against the yellow.

Barely... just a little too dark. Can't quite define the edges of your subject.

I like the idea...the two things that bother me in this shot is the way it's cropped, and the black spot on the lower right part. I would have liked to have seen the whole subject. Well done nonetheless. Good luck!

Comment by Rasai:
If the photo had something with a soft focus in the foreground to indicate a 'Shallow Depth of Field' I would have given it another point. Perhaps if the focus on the blue square was as sharp as the red tube and the red tube was as blurred as the blue square it would have looked like a more pronounced S-DOF

I like the diagonal line here made with the objects, which makes the whole scene more dynamic and dramatic. DOF helps focus on the red cylinder, though the blue cube has the stronger position in the frame. Lighting is cool and nearly emotionless. Interesting study!

Comment by MrAkamai:
This is a good idea but too bad you didn't arrange them in order (RGB). I also think a different angle where the majority of the shot would be the red cylinder slowly fading/bluring to the next piece and then the third and final piece blurred about 70-75%. Like an extreme perspective shot where the tops of the pieces make up the vanishing point and it ends somewhere in the middle of the shot. The blue piece exhibits a minor amount of pixelation.
