I can really see potential in this image but its a really hard concept to pull off. You need to have just the right lighting set up to separate your subject from the background when they are both the same color. Its even more important when you have one subject and a flat background like this. I'd be curious to see this with a bit more light and more white than brown/cream.
I am assuming you used flash based on your comments. I would have either increased the output of the flash or went with a larger aperture because this does seem a bit underexposed. (Based on the noise I'd guess it was quite underexposed then brightened in post-processing). Perhaps with a larger aperture you'd get a shallower depth of field and create more of a feeling of depth. |
