Uplifting!by trainComment by dr rick: Greetings from the Critique Club!
This image has a wonderful array of different textures, from the bright green leaves on the trees to the mottled shadows on the ground. The warm light in the midground is inviting, and a nice contrast with the shadowy foreground. The soft focus gives an impressionistic effect. I can see why you consider this park sacred.
The interested viewer has much to explore in this image. But there is little to invite an indifferent viewer to become interested. Especially when said viewer has a hundred other photos to vote on. I think this explains at least part of the so-so final score. I personally like it very much, especially after having taken the time to become acquainted with it. |

Catch 22 by Joseph Hellerby trainComment by Neil: It's hard to see that you are "catching" this without the title. If you could have grabbed a shot with the 22 actually in the air, and your hands waiting below, it would have been more dramatic. And while lighting is good, the brigher light might be better placed on the 22.
BTW - that's one of my favorite books from my youth. |
