Harvey, I've never heard the word "chop" used thay way, but assuming it's an insult, well, back atcha.
|
Locally the word chop or in it's native "Tjop" is more a term of endearment, almost like "silly nit". |
Gotcha. :) No worries! |

This is easily done with off camera and flash and timed exposure. |

You know what the say about assumption, it makes an ASS out of U and ME.
Locally the word chop or in it's native "Tjop" is more a term of endearment, almost like "silly nit". That's the problem with type, it has no tone of voice. In Australia the word or phrase "you silly/stupid bastard" is perhaps a bit stronger and could possibly be used in a derogatory way but often in a way that borders on affection or awe! would you believe. And yes, I grew up in Australia but dare not use that phrase in Africa for fear of getting walloped. So chop it was :P There are far better words in Afrikaans that could be used to be insulting, trust me.
Well done for fessing up. That's pretty unheard of. You have a right to naturally, there is a mechanism for all of us to do so and Allesandro took offence at the time. SC can't possibly have eyes everywhere.
Lesson learnt, schools out :)

I did, and I'd do it again.
Alex, as we discussed in the scores thread, I did analyze itan and I'd bet most who saw it didn't. Harvey, I've never heard the word "chop" used thay way, but assuming it's an insult, well, back atcha.
It looked off to me to have no shadows from flashing the subject. It's clearly lit from the left, so I wondered why the ground to the right is evenly lit. I still do, even knowing it's legal. I've done many long night exposures with painted light on them, and I know how hard it can be to get an evenly exposed background.
Remember that no one knows whose shot is whose, and several times a year, a new person gets DQ'd for not reading the rules. In this case, I thought maybe someone had pasted in a person and neglected the lack of a shadow.
Also, requesting validation is just a question, not an accusation.
However, I'm delighted to find it's legit, as I voted it an 8. It's a terrific shot, and I'm surprised it didn't score higher.

The Rising Tide by Alex_PetriniComment by pamb: Did he get the shot? Yes.
Your image has the possibility of multiple questions that can be answered by yes or no, even though you may have had something specific in mind. Gorgeous blue tones, good composition, but essentially it's a photo of a guy with a camera on a rock and it's not that interesting for me. |
