Hi, Critique Club here...

This is just a terrific photograph, I don't know that I could really come up with any areas for improvement. Your score indicates as much (except for that lone 1, you must have been a threat to someone???)

I like the composition with all the leadin lines. I wish there was something down there for the lines to be taking me to. (OK, I found something to criticize ;) )

Great job!

Makes me feel cold and almost sad...like there should have been someone on the bridge waiting for me. I like the black and white with the foggy air about it. Well done.

Very cool image. The lights lead the eye to the other side. The snow and fog is a great effect.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Now this is what it's all about! Love this. Perfect tones, the snow and the fog conspiring to give such wonderful stillness. I like how you verticals stat upright across the frame - did you lens-correct? Your POV is perfect too - offset to perfection.

Critical stuff: I wonder how a tighter portrait composition may have been, cropped just medially to each of the gates - I suspect that may have increased the sense of depth because then the bridge would suggest extension behind as well as ahead.

Overall: Flat out great image - immaculately presented.

Hi Adrian, greetings from the Critique Club!

I voted this shot a 7 because I liked the overall execution of the photo.

Composition
Very good subject placing, in this photo the centring of the subject really helped.
Like a comment that you had, I too would have liked to see the ball higher, it would add to the notion that it is in fact levitating.

Lighting / Technique
Very good light control, you did exactly what you had to do for this shot. The lighting is harsh but at the same time very controlled on the hand and arm.
I think that the shutter speed could be quicker, as it does not affect the lighting (if you do not change it so much as to blacken the picture). You could go for 1/100 and probably got a steadier hand.

Processing
Great job on the skin toning and white balance, very well exposed. Since it was advanced editing, I would have like to see more contrast / shadows in the ball, through some careful dodge and burning.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Regards,
Joao
