African Olive Pigeon (PAW 11/52)by HarveyGComment by nam: I find it quite nicely crisp - that's the first thing I noticed after taking in the very lovely bird himself. I do think it would be nice if you could lift a bit more detail from the shadow areas. |

African Olive Pigeon (PAW 11/52)by HarveyGComment by kasaba: Very nice capture Harvey. Could be used as an ID type photograph.
I think the de-noise worked well.
Personally I would like to see it a bit crisper, have you tried the "Sharpen I" in Topaz?
Also the black in the tail and left wing is very dark (no detail). I am sure you shot RAW? can't you lift the shadows a bit?
Sorry, I probably sound overly critical. I hear a lot of judges at the local club comment on bird photographs and have become very "alert" (not that I shoot birds myself ... always easier to comment than do yourself, I know).
If you ever feel the need to shoot some more of these come and visit. We have several resident ones here on the property.

Catch of the Dayby HarveyGComment by tanguera: Congrats, Harvey. This is your genre, for sure. I don't have the patience. I'm too busy throwing cloth into the air... |

Herbie Rides Again IIIby HarveyGComment by HarveyG: Originally posted by herfotoman: So Art got you onto your knees eh? |
Actually I hate shooting standing upright, I'll lean, crawl, lie, kneel, hang, climb to get a different POV :) |

Herbie Rides Again IIIby HarveyGComment by herfotoman: Really a buggy? Goodness.
So Art got you onto your knees eh?
Quite interesting, the cantilevered angle makes it so.
As always, [to your arty side's detriment], pin-sharp, and all in focus.
I do like the colour treatment.
This is pop-art if I'm not mistaken, and a very good example. Perfect for a 1980's music album cover.

Catch of the Dayby HarveyGComment by herfotoman: I hoped it was yours, when I saw it. The light is handled so well, and the DOF is forever,as far as I'm concerned. [Where it matters of course, just look at the nice bokeh]
Thirteenth, very well done. Message edited by author 2013-03-08 03:39:45. |
