It does show texture. The right edge of the feather somehow detracts for me....some kind of fringing or of focus line. (I'm sure no expert!) I would have liked maybe a different background.

Good job! I like the texture here. Had you noticed the edge in feather bottom? I may be result of lens chromatic aberation, corrected or not. It´s common to highlights edge like it. The picture is very good and you can´t remove this edge within the rules! Don´t worry.

Actually, the flowers look pink. It seems that the main subject should be reflected in the challenge, not the background. Just my interpretation. Plus you have a small white speck to the right of the flowers. I spent 30 seconds trying to wipe it off my monitor (exageration).

The framing seems a little off kilter to me, perhaps a square frame a bit tigher around the flowers, centered perfectly would be nice. It seems a little oversharpened, too... there's some aliasing along the edges of the flower petals. I like the subtle shades of color in the petals, too... though the picture on the whole doesn't really say 'black' to me. :)

Nice composition though pity about focus on petals in lower flower. This is not a photo of something black though and scores poorly on that account.
