I want to thank everyone for their comments. They've been really helpful. This was my first go at this so there's much to learn.

To answer some of the questions (this is more for me than you since I doubt anyone will check back)...

I had limited time to shoot and didn't have a good vantage point with an expansive view of the vineyard, so I stuck to the sky, which was working at the moment.

The small size is just me being a rookie. I didn't know how to save the file at the proper size without compromising quality, so I made the image size smaller. I also had PS set to CMYK instead of sRGB so I lost a lot of the color anyway, but didn't know what I was doing at the time. I fixed it for the next challenge, but blew it anyway because my monitor is clearly not calibrated correctly, as now that I'm at work my photo looks a lot different than when I submitted it. :-(

As for the white balance, that's an excellent idea. I played with colors a lot but didn't want it to look too over-processed. A WB adjustment would have helped a lot.

Thanks again!

Hi there, Erpolzheim is on the Deutsche Weinstraße in Rheinland-Pfalz, in between Bad Dürkheim and Freinsheim (west of Mannheim).

A very gloomy week and this was taken during the two hours it wasn't pouring.

I felt like voting sub 5 when I saw it first, but than I kept looking for a while. Dont know, may be a larger crop would help the first impression, also not sure about the framing, but anyway, I like the blending colors, bleak but good at it, loneliness, sense of loss in relatively busy picture...

Cool sky, but I don't know why you went as small as you did. Emphasizing the endless rows of vines a bit more would have worked well for this.

Moody and well spotted, reflection in water, nice sky. Try landscape orientation next time for more impact. the leading lines and angle you shot this should go on forever into the distance, ala landscape orientation.

Puddles, wire, and leaning stakes make me think of a concentration camp -- sorry!

I'm really drawn to this one. Maybe it's the repeating lines, or the sky, or the interaction of the reflection the posts and the sky. I can't tell, but it intrigues me. I wish it was a little warmer, though. Maybe a little white balance tweak would help that....
