One of those pictures that defy my sense of reality. I almost feel as if I am flying and looking down through very misty clouds. Mysterious. Great shutter speed.

Your shot did quite well in voting. Any day you score over 6 is a good day. I really like this shot. The DOF is great. The colors are good. Very nice bird. You have captured plenty of detail in the bird and the wooden fence post. Your crop is also good. Overall good shot. Happy shooting

Very difficult to write a critique for the Blue in a free study!

This has the combination of good composition, excellent colours and a good subject. It's a little bit exotic for most of us, so plenty of wow factor for those who like this type of shot.

I can understand why it scored well and you landed the blue.

Critique Club Breview

Color Saturation and Hue: colors are realistic, saturation is not overly done, and hues appear accurate for the subject.

Focus and depth of field: focus is tack sharp and depth of field is quite deep, which is well suited to the subject.

Brightness and contrast: both are well done, but dynamic range seems a tiny bit short. This results in a burned out area around the sun.

There is also a tiny bit of lens flare observable in the middle of the beach near the bend in the stream.

Subjective: this is an excellent image, as noted by the top three finish. I feel like I can almost feel the granularity of the sand. The use of a slow shutter speed adds to the image. Though I have to admit I do not associate the sea shore with silence. Still, excellent work, and congratulations on a well deserved ribbon.
