My thoughts on the image: This is a spectacular image that finished with a well-deserved blue ribbon. I love that it is only your second entry back, and you are right back in the mix again.

My ideas for improvement: There is nothing I can offer for improvement here. The subject is phenomenal, the composition is excellent and very eye-drawing, and the technical aspects of the capture are all spot on. The smoke an haze play well to set an awesomely ominous tone to the photo.

Where I would have/did score this entry: I did vote in this one, and you were one of the three 9 scores that I gave out. The other two finished second and third. Congrats on an awesome photo, and welcome back to DPC competition!

Outstanding. Moody and ethereal at the same time. Excellent use of space. My only nit--those tack sharp weeds in the "foreground" of the shadows are distracting to me. I would have used a blur tool to try blending them into the tree line or just cloned them out entirely. But the image is quite effective for me even with them in.
