Love hte tones in the hair, but the dark shadow around her 'left' eye is a little distracting.

The picture is taken from an old abandonded block that was in front of the guest house where I was living in Berlin (not anymore). Since the very first moment the picture, dark and grainy, reminded me the old pictures from the 2nd World War that can seen everywhere in Berlin.

It's funny the issue of the darkness. Indeed, is the strenght of the picture and I actually darkened it. I edited the picture on the flat screen of my laptop and it looked quite ok there. However, I have realized it is a bit dark on my CRT monitor. Well, is hard to know the brightness of your monitors !!! Ok, I'll ask you a little favour to see the pictue: if the staircase is too dark, please increase a bit the brightness of your monitor ;)

Thanks for the comments

Great subject and this is a prime example for me of how the angle of attack you chose enhanced the feeling of desolation. No one subject stands out. The whole of the picture becomes the subject. As a critique I'd suggest playing with the levels in PS if you have it just to try and bring out the stairs. Considering that the window is already blown out with hot light but the left of the image is very well exposed, I'd think about a horizontal gradient fill to legally lighten up the stairs. Good shot - 9
