Hi from the C Club,

At first glance I thought this was a Red Hot Poker Plant, I even looked it up, they are so similar it is uncanny!

I think if you are going to go dead center with a subject, then the whole thing needs to be tack sharp. The background is smooth with pleasing colours to compliment the flower head. I can even spot a piece of a cobweb on the in focus head.

In post processing there is nothing I can think that you can change you are tack sharp on most of the flower, colours are nicely saturated

Well, it's a ribbon, but it bears little or no resemblance to the DPC ribbons. I suspect you read the challenge title, but not the description. (I'll bet you received this critique 10 times already.)

A slightly deeper DOF and angled view and this would be a winner IMHO.

Interesting shot. I like the selective desaturation here as it draws attention to the ribbons. However, I dont feel that it does a great job of showcasing the DPC ribbons, even indirectly.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: This is quite an OOB submission!

Composition and technicals: The technicals (from what I can see after all the editing) are fine; the composition is centered but works for me here. The angle at which it was shot links the image to the challenge topic and is quite fun.

Final thoughts: The image is very over processed for my taste, it is definitely belongs more in the realm of digital art. While intentional, processing does not work for me. This is fun shot but is too out of the box for me (it feels more like a shoehorn, really).

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Fun shot, but the challenge requires the red, yellow or blue DPC reibbon.

This is a nice fun shot. I like the fact that you have red, yellow and blue in there. I imagine you're going to get a lot of DMNC because they aren't the DPC ribbons, but I like it and think it meets the challenge nicely.

Not so keen on the B&W areas of the shot, particularly the background, I think the whole thing would have been nicer in colour. 7 from me.
