I like the composition and the subject. It works well having both the blooming rose and the bud. I wish there were a bit more contrast between the rose and the background. It all seems a bit "orangy" (sorry, I know it's not a word) to me. Maybe a cooler color temperature would have helped (although I know you may have been going for the warmness) I had this as a 5, but after looking at it in depth, I'm moving it to a 6. If it fit the challenge a bit better, I probably would have given it a higher score.

Image looks slightly muddy as if taken thru a diffusing filter. Nice composition otherwise. Try using an 'unsharp mask' filter with a very large radius (maximum) and strength of about 20%. This does not sharpen the image but will dispell that muddy appearance.
