Practical Magicby OFreasierComment by e301: The light, especially in the area of the cards and the knife, is lovely ... but i really wish you hadn't included so very much stuff in the shot. Together with the really very bright candles it makes it a difficult image to look at for long ... there is too much to remove the eye from the cards, and not enough to hold the attention once drawn. Simpler is very often better, and can communicate just as much if carefully composed. 5 |

Practical Magicby OFreasierComment by mycelium: I like the setup, but I think a little bit of adjustment would have been helpful. Having the words on the cards so close to the bottom of the frame is distracting... my eye keeps being drawn to them, away from the more central parts of the photograph. Unfortunately I also see no real focal point; there is nowhere for my eye to go. Perhaps a lower angle would have helped. |

"Mommy, is that tree gonna get me?"by OFreasierComment by e301: Lacking real punch - without knowing your processing it's difficult to tall you what I feel is wrong, but it looks like you could use some more contrast and a good bit of sharpening - that would really hhelp bring out the patterning of that chaos of branches I think. It's not a bad image for the challenge, but you could work on your composition also. |
