Florida's giant orange grasshopperby TammsterComment by ellamay: he is a cool critter, i have not seen one of these guys before.
i think it is a good shot and the background is blurred even at 6.3 but I would like to see it even at maybe a 4.0 or something (not sure which lens was taken with)
My folks are in that area I will have to check out that preserve next time I am there.
Well done! |

Treeby TammsterComment by Tammster: I do believe these are vultures but I really don't know. Ellamay, I do like that thought as some days the tree had 10 times more birds on it (but I didn't have my camera that day). |

Snowy Egretby TammsterComment by MelonMusketeer: This shot looks very good just as you have it here. With white birds, I find that I need to shoot about 1.5 stops underexposed to get good detail in the feathers. This leaves the BG pretty dark looking but it seems the only way to get the birds. They are just so very reflective and such a small bit of the overall image, that they tend to fool the camera's metering system.
The reflection in the water is nice in this. |

Treeby TammsterComment by ellamay: what kind of birds are these and where abouts do you live?
chances are they are migratory birds and have passed thru, likely they will come back again same time next year : ) |
