I would have liked to see a sharper image of this; could this be due to image size reduction? Also, depth of field adds very little to the image.

4 - Good potential. Unique shot. Without your title, likely wouldn't discern it during voting. Criticism; more 'balance' here, and a sharper perspective, or more of a macro if possible, to gain more detail in the sap and 640 width, would have made this better in my opinion. Incorporating or 'losing' that dark area bottom left and just a finer focus, especially on the sap, and ideally one or two rings in the cut wood would also have likely helped this. The frame detracts, especially at this size, plus there is an 'issue' on the left with it.

Already commented on this, but putting a little note here to let you know why I added this to my Favorites. This is one of the more 'memorable' favorites I have. I really liked the capture, pose and the color of the fly. It was not 'perfect' of course, as I said in my comments, but the potential was there and for your camera, this was a pretty good shot. Having been here a while now, I'd also add that this at 640 likely would have helped, perhaps by incorporating more 'context'/environment, depending of course what you had. temporary note: just read one of your 'forum posts', so another reason I wanted to put this down now, in the hope that you will see it. Also to let you know that I like many of your shots and your 'style'. edit: the "7" in my original comments was only 'pretend', hopefully you worked that out at the time (I was new), but for what it's worth, I'd give it a 7 today if I were voting in the same Challenge.

Great capture with some excellent color contrast. However, the mushroom does look a bit oversharpened. Other than that, great job.

Nice subtle colors. I know how difficult it is to get pictures of snakes. I have a ball python. Lovely expression with the coils. I gave it an 8 but if you couldave gotten one with its tongue out I would have given it a 10.
