Nice crisp image. Technically it's very good and I guess it meets the challenge even though it's not really round.

Composition: I like the composition of your shot. The two cannons are nicely framed and they make me wonder what is out to the left of the frame. They do, however, blend heavily into the background and are relatively hard to see. I like the aspect ratio of this shot and it looks like the shot was taken from low down, which I also like.

Technical Quality: The black and white conversion let's your shot down. It looks like you might have had exposure problems with a very bright sky as well. It may have been possible to convert different colours to grey differently to provide more contrast between the cannons and the trees.

Meeting Challenge: I like your approach at meeting the challenge. It's not the most literal interpretation, which is actually nice.

Overall: I really like the composition and content of this shot. Personally I would try to convert to grey scale again - I'm sure there are some people who could help out with creative ways of doing the conversion (or search the web). Well done.

Great idea! I'm not sure B/W is the best choice as the grays of the cannons are more difficult to distinguish from the grays of the trees behind. The grass in front does make a nice foreground presentation, though. Nice work.

Wonderful capture of a stolen base. The image is crisp and clean, focus being good for the obcious distance away you were, and a good dof used. The shutter speed used for this was perfect looks like the motion is stopped rather than having blurry feet.

The baseline pulls the eye into the main subject of the two players, but personally I believe showing more of the baseline and less of the area to the right would have made this an outstanding photo. The only other thing to do that might have made this photo better is cropping closer to the players. loosing part of the dust cloud on the right and then equal amounts from the top and bottom.

Overall this is a really good photo and it definately meets the challenge. Well done.

Nice picture, nice positioning (of yourself) to take the shot though it's a little difficult to make out the complete shapes because of the similar tones of the shadow and trees, how did it look in colour?

Gettysburg? I think I've taken the exact same shot when I visited there last year.
Great choice of subject for the challenge, and the duotone works well

You met the challenge, even though canon and tree would've been the first two words to come to mind for me. B&w / duotone often works well for battlefield / canons / old kind of photos, I'm not sure it works here. The canons are merging too much into the background for me, but I think with color the sky would've probably been too blown out and gray. A tough choice. Maybe even come back in different light (if possible). I do like the composition and framing.
