Windowby ClubJuggleComment by chalcone: The ivies are a tad bit overexposed. It appears dull yellow. The foliag is competing against the window for attention. |

Windowby ClubJuggleComment by clues56: I think less of the bush in front and more of the window would make a big improvement to this. I like the window, but it's overshadowed by the bush. |

Deep Purple Dreamby ClubJuggleComment by crabappl3: Hello.... Wanted to drop a critique in here. This flower has a lot of potential. The colors from the deep maroon to the light purple can make for a dramatic shot. Here are somethings that you may want to try. The perspective of your current shot is straight into the flower. I know that to meet the challenge you wanted to capture as much of the flower into the frame as possible. Would it have still been possible from a lower angle? The lighting is interesting enough, it allows for some nice contrast in the creases of the petals. I'm not sure if boosting the contrast a bit may or maynot have increased the textures in the petals or not as it may have blown out the lower petals. Focus seems to be the major issue in this shot. It seems to be slightly soft. I'm not sure if you used auto focus or not, but you may have reached the limit of your lens. I may have opened the aperature some and made the yellow in the middle the main focal point and had the petals more blurred. This would have helped to minimize the distraction of the blemishes on the petals, but also would have given the viewer a main focal point. As it stands now, with everything in the same focal plane, we have no main subject of interest in this shot. Let's see some reshoots of this flower, I think you have some great potential with this shot! -danny |

By Any Other Nameby ClubJuggleComment by magnetic9999: i like the shallow dof and the angle., but might have deepened the dof enough to enclose the entire bloom head. i might have done a channel mixer conversion to emphasize the leaves more. as is, they get a little lost in the bg (more green channel). |
