Comment by BobsterLobster:
I'm really puzzled as to how you achieved this... inverting it doesn't seem to make it any clearer! I really like the textures, idea and composition... the outline of the spider make it seem more primal than seeing an actual spider. 10

Lots of contrast, and lots of people find spider falling into the nightmare category. For me it is a bit too washed out.

Comment by Faye Pekas:
Nice abstract feel. He could easily be a nightmare. A closer crop might have been better though.

hmm .. its great quality, it would look better with some better lighting and shadows - perhaps even in a sepia tone.

This is a really neat subject, but I think the lighting betrayed you here - the light-glare on the snail's body is so bright that the one antenna appears to merge into its body and it's hard to make out any features, at the front. Nice, tight closeup, though; do you have one of those cameras that has to find a white somewhere in the picture, perhaps?

Lighting is a bit harsh, creating hars shadows and highlights, but very interesting textures and great composition. If you try this again, simply have someone or an object create shade for you while you shoot. The shadowy light is much softer and creates more interest.

Good photo for everything, but the slug's body (very over-exposed). You might want to try different white balance or different (wider) spot metering. 6 Rob the Swash

You lost the details in the washed out area. It̢۪s hard to get the correct exposure in the high-speed world of snail photography :)

I like the angle of this shot and the sense of height it creates...
