after sunset @ iso 80by FourPointXComment by ti_evom: Obvious use of a tripod, or any other long-term stabilization tool (1-10 *is not the score of the shot though*): 3
First off, might I suggest not titling your shot with your ISO? You could have shot wide open with a f/1.2 lens and a 1/10 sec shutter. It appears your camera exposed for the sky leaving all other objects in silhouette. The water is difficult to see and the clouds appear stationary. If one of those two subjects showed smoothing or blur, it would be obvious a tripod was used. |

after sunset @ iso 80by FourPointXComment by giantmike: It's unfortunate that high ISO is causing the noise in the upper right. That is really distracting me away from the beautiful silhouette.
Obvious tripod use: High. |

breakby FourPointXComment by spiritualspatula: Just as a general comment for minimal editing challenges-
Check to see if your camera has any way to control the contrast of the images. My LX3 does, my S9100 did, and my D300 does- Upping your in-camera contrast a lot will make scenes like this feel much more vibrant and lively, and avoid the dull midtones that straight from camera jpegs tend to have.
These shots here are all straight from camera, and were done in the same way.
Similarly, these did not have their contrast messed with out of camera at all either. |

leading westby FourPointXComment by spiritualspatula: I like your composition with the waterway, but the fence just seems odd and out of place, incidental. It's hanging there, not doing anything, which hurts the strength of the waterway. This is sorta magnified a bit by the nature of the fence- it's angular, and hard edged, while the rest of the scene is more organic, with curves and softness.
An interesting aspect of this photo is that the sky, though much larger, doesn't really steal the show... it feels about equal in strength to the foliage/waterway. |
