From a technical standpoint, this is unfortunately ruined by oversharpening which is a major flaw. From an artistic standpoint, if the temptation to oversharpen had been avoided, it would have been more than acceptable. If the image hadn't been oversharpened, this would have had significant impact on the viewer and should have placed well as the slight color cast is a major plus. Very unfortunate and the author would do well to critically examine the submissions for flaws like this before submitting.

The background is to bright it's almost washed out, I don't know if this is a self-portrait or a candid shot but IMO I would have came back in the morning or the evening when the light wasn't so harsh. JMO!
