The uneroded veins in the rock roughly correspond to the grid you'd see on your LCD screen if your camera had a "ROT-Assist" function ...
This is one of my recent entries which are lighter than they should be due to my monitor recently going way out of calibration. It looks better darker. |

Camouflageby GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Thanks -- this was of several recent photos of mine which got over-lightened in post-processing as my monitor was getting far out of calibration. I'll try to post some betteradjusted versions for comparison; also, I have some with the tree to the side -- I considered those, but went for the greater degree of camouflage. |

Ok I will tell the truth at first I was like ok a tree where's the conspiracy, but then I looked again and wow it just popped out at me! Excellent idea! The photo itself is very interesting. It seems like the whiteness on the branches is a little too strong but I could see if you did that to fit with the tower better. This really is a great idea, and I bet if people spent the time to figure out what was before them they would have voted higher. I would like to have seen the image cropped down just a little the sky looks overwhelming to me. Maybe if the image was brought in a bit voters would have been able to see the tower and recognize it at first look. |

The Naturalby GeneralEComment by Tammer: I must admit that my eyes are working hard to see what this is. Is it an aerial view of the earth somewhere? A closeup of some sort of fabric or tarp? Perhaps if there was something else in the photo that would give your viewer a reference as to the subject. |

The Other Sideby GeneralEComment by dsidwell: From the title, I suspect that this spider's destination was "the other side." It may seem a petty thing, but it looks like the spider is walking down the road instead of across it. The only hint you've included is the line marker in the middle, and the spider is walking parallel to it. I like the position of the spider in the frame. Tones seem just a tad light and not very deep, so playing with contrast might be worthwhile. If your macro works, it might be fun to get as close as possible to the spider for some alternative choices. Overall, an interesting, engaging image! |
