The text on the end really grabs my attention first and foremost. Had you not mentioned the ice around the vent I may have missed it. That part is hard to capture in a creative manner without really getting close (IMO). I do like the way the lighting works on this for you...keeping the side in shade allowing the end to stand out.

I think a cleaner keyboard would have improved the shot.

This looks tasty. I kind of like how the grain gives this an old cookbook look, but it doesn't seem right to have the yellow speckles in the top right. 6

Hi from the Critique Club,

You asked for your shot to have an in depth comment from a member of the Critique Club.

I can see what you where going for here. You read the description of the challenge and you used the light to create a scene.

I think what is needed here is possible a focus, some sharpening, some focus, a tripod, more lighting, a faster shutter speed.

It is a good idea that you had though, maybe glueing the coins to some string and making them appear to fall into your hand out of a cup might help with the focus issue.

Some light underneath the hand may have helped a little also with the focus. Laying your hand on a table would have steadied your hand and not given you hand shake. The top of your hand is slightly cut off as well with the cup(?) move back just a tad to incorporate the cup and fingers.

Would be better for me if the head was the focus of the shot. It's an odd composition as it is i feel. - (later) Actually, i've come back to this photograph and spent more time looking at it, and my initial thoughts have changed. I really do like it a lot more now. The unusual focus really makes the shot, give it a kind of mysterious air which can be lacking in a lot of the usual insect macro shots. It's great. Bumping my voting score from a 5 to an 8. I really like this!

I recommend cleaning the keyboard. Also, the front mouse is OOF. Great idea, though.
