Radial Blur and Linear Blurby GeneralEComment by jmsetzler: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi GeneralE...
My critique on this photograph is going to be in the form of a question to you. The answer to this question will be your critique :)
What was your intent with this photo?
When you list your intent(s), compare it with your personal list of all the elements that make up a truly great and inspiring photograph. Here is a partial list of elements that I believe make strong photos:
1. Interesting color
2. Interesting light
3. Interesting textures and shapes
4. Interesting point of view
5. Interesting subject
6. Interesting effects
7. Stirs emotion
8. Creates questions/mystery
This is not a complete list and there are very few photos that could possibly incorporate all of these at once. Any one of these, on its own, can create a strong image. Multiples combined into one image can create something phenomenal.
Tell me what you think :)
John Setzler

Golden Gateby GeneralEComment by ElGordo: When I see photos like this my first reaction is "Must be nice to live in such a photogenic place", but then I remember I DO live in a photogenic place!
Maybe someday I will learn to take advantage of the surroundings as well as you! |

Pollardedby GeneralEComment by C-Fox: likes - clear shapes
dislikes - my eye drifts in the picture not having a place to rest or central interest point.

Precarious Placementby GeneralEComment by garlic: Well focused considering your shallow DOF. The things at the bottom are distracting, maybe you should have give it a tighter croping from the bottom. Maybe B&W. |

Precarious Placementby GeneralEComment by Refocused: Good eye on capturing this shot for the challenge. I think it would have looked better if you cropped out the lower portion of the picture just above the pencil. It would have eliminated alot of the clutter and made the picture more photographically interesting because you would be focusing in more on the subject. |
