The Thin Blue Lineby GeneralEComment by adine: I like the composition - the yellow lines such a strong diagonal, and the blue waing back and froth. The car and the top and bit of a car at the left frame it nicely. Wish I could understand what the blue line is for by looking at the picture. The image lacks meaning. |

Mossy Stepsby GeneralEComment by Fayech: image feels overexposed and the blurred foreground is distracting. i love the moss though! |

Mossy Stepsby GeneralEComment by inspzil: Botton of the photo is exposed pretty well. Top of the photo is blown out. Personally I'd have left the bottom a bit darker and made the top just a little bit brighter than normal. I feel that the top here is substantially more exposed than "normal" |

Flash Photographer At Workby GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Thanks for the comments. Perhaps I should have titled it Flash Photographer Ruining My Shot. (Although the additional light probably made the ceiling look a bit better.)
I myself was impressed at capturing the flash -- the available exposure window must be pretty short. It's kind of like capturing a home run hitter at the moment the ball is in contact with the bat. Given the shutter-lag on my camera, it is a remarkable coincidence to me ....
Ah, I see the slight rotation now! |

For Your Protection...by GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Originally posted by Olyuzi: I think you should have left this image as a bit of photojournalism rather than applying post processing modifications that confuse the issue. You were probably after some sort of futuristic/sci-fi artisitic effect, but it didn't serve the purpose because it wasn't carried out well enough. Had you left the telephone pole recognizable I think more people would have got it. |
Thanks! The goal was not so much to create a futuristic look as to intoduce enough contrast into a very poor exposure that enough detail can be seen and the subject identified. The weird color shifts are just a (un)fortunate byproduct. |
