I was on deadline and about a 33% magnification -- I just never really noticed it. I thought it was a pretty darned stupid rule and ruling too, but I had to admit that they were enforcing the rules as written and equally to everyone.

Maybe if I hadn't oversharpened it so it made that halo under the dark edge it would have slipped by ...

The photo comes across as blurry and low contrast. Increasing the contrast between the background and the subject might have been all that was needed to improve.

You may want to increase the contrast in PhotoShop or in your camera. It's always good to have really white whites and really dark (as close to black as possible) in your B&W shots. There's a tiny bit of black in the lines around the fingers, but it's good to try to create some sort of visual balance between your lights adn your darks. This is unfortunately too light and there is a bit too much noise. You may want to try to set your ISO at the lowest possible.

II feel funny critiqueing anything as new to this as I am, but the site seems to encourage it. I like the concept here, but it took me a minute to understand that you were capturing a motion blur. If the thumbs were more visible and if there was less white in the photo, I think I would like it better. Maybe a contrasting background.
