Expectantby GeneralEComment by Bear_Music: Overlap of figure and utility pole is unfortunate. Picture would breathe better with less foreground and more on top. Possibly if you'd panned more to the left (the wayhe's looking( and positioned him in the right third of the frame, you'd have an image that told a stronger story of waiting. Very nice tonalities. |

Expectantby GeneralEComment by Montereykiddo: Love the rain. Love the feel. Love the location. I do not love the composition. Your subject is dead center of the frame. Another crop selection may have been more effective. I would also like to see your subject a little better. I understand that you may be trying to get across the feeling of isolation and aloneness of this man, but you should have tried to get a few more shots if possible experimenting with his location within the frame. For example....imagine if you had moved the camera so that he was standing alone in the upper right courner of the picture and we could see more of the empty tracks in front of him. That kind of composition may have been a little more gripping for me. Just my 2 cents....nice job. |

Buy A New Carby GeneralEComment by ahaze: Not a very flattering way to shoot a new car- this looks like not much more than a snapshot. |

I'm Shocked, Simply SHOCKED!by GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Originally posted by bear_music: I take it the face is NOT the man in the moon, but the 3 circles? If so, it's not really "facing off" for me. The image usffers from oversharpening on the moon, I think. The haloing is not good here. But it's an appealing image regardless. |
Dang it -- I didn't even see "that" face until looking at the thumbnail for the fourth time tonight. Thanks! |

I'm Shocked, Simply SHOCKED!by GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Originally posted by Artan: The sharpening arounf the moon, gives the impression that it has been gat out from another Photograph. This could be have been avoided withn less sharpening.
If spot editing were alowed you could clone out this halo |
I more or less left the ugly effect in place to see if it would garner a DQ request (took a few hours, maybe!) and if the validation would have a significant effect on the score (not that much -- that's good!).
It would have been possible to get rid of the holoing, but as usual I didn't really have time to do a good job of it, so I tried to leave it looking deliberate.
This had to be a hand-held shot at long zoom since to achieve the composition I had to be between two lanes of a major boulevard during rush hour -- I figure I must have had 15-30 seconds easy : )
Maybe I'll post a picture of the "set-up" for this shot ... |

Expectantby GeneralEComment by sparkly: If the guy were placed in the far right of the frame with more of the rail in the distance this would have a better impact. |

Expectantby GeneralEComment by drewmedia: Cool idea, but I think it could be much more effective if you brought up the contrast to feel colder. |

Prybarby GeneralEComment by taterbug: Nice idea. I like the 'S' curves of your subject. Looks like some nice textures going on as well. Fits the challenge very well. I think an improvement may be a slightly different perspective, eliminating the post thingy in the upper left corner, it is just a tad bit distracting. |
