The Merry-Go-Roundby franktheyankComment by colorcarnival: In this challenge I was looking for something in focus to act as a counterbalance to what might have been in focus instead. This is a really cool long exposure shot but it gives me no indication of what an intended subject might have been. The only thing I can see that might have been cool is the shadow of the horse in the reflective mirror. I think I'd like to have seen a tighter crop to give that more emphasis. 6 |

The Merry-Go-Roundby franktheyankComment by Yo_Spiff: Where is the missed focus? I see a completely in focus motion blur shot. I do like it, but it does not fit the challenge topic at all. Sorry. |

The Merry-Go-Roundby franktheyankComment by moriadelacroix: To begin with, I am not sure which way I lean as to whether motion blur fits in with this challenge or not. If it is used in conjunction with an OOF area, then I think it would be appropriate. It this particular photo, the merry-go-round looks as though it would be in focus if it was stopped. But since there are differing opinions on this topic, I am not going to allow my personal opinion of does motion blur = OOF affect my vote.
So with that aside, I do like the way you used the blur - it is very creative. What I am not that fond of is what appears to be a tilt, and the slightly in focus background on image left, but not on the right. It feels very off balanced to me. If you crop out the left, I think it would help add to the composition. But besides that, great job! This was a very interesting challenge to participate in and I think your choice of subject is very creative!
BTW - This is all just my opinion - please take it with a grain of salt! Most of the time, I donĂ¢€™t know what I am talking about! :) |
