House Finchby SwashbucklerComment by lisae: Seems a bit low res, but other than that the DOF is nice and the framing is great. The colours seem a bit muddy, but boosting them would only increase the noise. Maybe it would be nice in black and white?
Updated to say: This is what I got when I converted it to black and white out of curiosity: //lisa3d.org/images/photos/dpc/birdBW.jpg. I also adjusted the levels, and did a little trick of duplicating a layer, blurring it, turning down the opacity to about 50%, and flattening the photo again. Then I sharpened it a bit. It made it a little less pixellated. |

House Finchby SwashbucklerComment by crabappl3: Good closeup. There appears to be some over sharpening around the bird as well as noise in the background. The composition is good, I'd like to see the red enhanced a little more so the bird's chest and head really jump off the screen. |

House Finchby SwashbucklerComment by Gracious: Nice composition, but there isn't enough detail in the eyes and feathers to make it an outstanding image of a finch. Colors are real good. The bg works very well. If it was just a bit lighter more detail would be visible...I think. |

House Finchby SwashbucklerComment by inspzil: This picture is a little grainy. Its not really clear either as I think it could be, which would make this a much better picture. - Inspzil |

House Finchby SwashbucklerComment by HBunch: I might be getting picky here, but I with that the focus was just a TAD sharper on the bird. You have done a great job with the blurred background. It creates an atmosphere where the bird stands out nicely, and is not disturbed by anything in the background. I like how you have positioned the bird within the photo, and the stick is also positioned nicely. I wonder what kind of effect it would have on the photo if there were a bit more space in front of the bird, to make it look less like he was staring directly into a wall (edge of the photo). Somthing to try anyway. Good luck in the challenge. |
