Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Swash...

I think this is a very well composed image and it works nicely with your choice of song titles :) I actually like the centered composition of this particular shot. It seems to work very well and I can't see a better way to compose it myself.

I think this particular shot may have some room for improvement. The grain level is fairly high... possibly from a high ISO setting. I'm not sure what your exposure settings were since they are not posted with the image. If this is a LIVE bird, which it very well could be, getting a shot like this must have been very difficult, so setting manual exposures would not have been very easy at all. The overall image quality could be a lot sharper with a lot more saturation however. Digital Zoom also can create artifacting like this. I'm not sure what the source is here, but since the bird appears to be in the shade, it could be a combination of both digital zoom and ISO settings that your camera provided automatically.

Keep up the good work! I hope you decide to stick around with us :)

What everyone is taking for graininess, noise, pixelation, or artifacts is obviously the texture of the feathers. They are not used to seeing a photo this close up, and without flash, of a georgeous eagle. This is absolutely the best photo of an eagle ever, (I collect eagles). This is an awesome job. Even more so when you consider the limitations on finishing a photo on this site, virtually no adjustments. Now that the challenge is over they'll look closer and realize the quality of this photo. It's should have been #1, and is in my book.

Swash, I'm not seeing the artifacts, or noise that others are seeing. I have had a lot of difficulty with that too. People frequently tell me they see a lot of noise in my pics and they are clear as a bell on my monitor. So frustrating. I've also been criticized for borders. Sighhhhhh....what can we do? Can't please all the peeps all the time.
I like the exposure here. The lighting is just perfect to bring out the texture in the white feathers. The crop works very well. The pose couldn't be better, and you really captured the moment.
This would be very nice hung on a wall. Good job!

I'm not even going to ask how you did this. All I can say is "WOW". Better title - Attack of Killer Bee? What an imagination, besides ability. Bet a lot don't like it, but I think it's wild. Not my type of photo but sure gets your attention. Great one. PTL

great job swash.. the photos match really really well... a super nice effect... the only thing I would like is different light so the glare and color of the ant are more balanced (7)
