What a fun shot! The shallow dof is an interesting element, and the colors are spot on perfect. I wish the front of the cushion would have been a bit sharper. A definite story captured.

Nice perspective and well lit. The darker patches around the eye are a little too severe IMO but it does not detract from a clever take. Well done.

My first impression is that the 'smoothness' of the image would make it unsuitable for an entry. But the overall effect and the extraordinary DOF make this a memorable and most appropriate entry!

You have captured the golden inner glow of this Lily- just so pretty the way the light fades into the BG- really fine work , Paul !

Awesome focus where it should be, accentuated by the shallow DOF. Good job!

Love the extremely shallow DOF that you were able to achieve in this shot, looks like the poor thing is all alone in the middle of no where. Although I really like the hint of the forest in the background, perhaps I would let it show through just a bit more to give some depth?

The composition with the branch comming into the frame along the lower horizontial 3rd works well and the centering of the bird feels right for this photo. I also like that the bird is facing forward, many times that you see a photo similat to this you see their backs.

I do not know if you have processed this image or not, it looks a bit soft overall on the branch and the bird. I would try to do an unsharp mask to bring a bit more detail and texture to the overall photo.

I love the colors of bird and the contrast of it to the overall photo.

Like the shallow DOF and the vibrant blue. I can see the stem; it's not bright, but it's there enough to add to the composition.

paulbtlw you set the bar really high with this excellent image. Congratulations on seeing this scene and interpreting it extraordinarily well. Let's hear it for Topaz as well as the phone.
