Surferby subject22Comment by ineedauniquename: one of them graduated polarising filters to reduce the exposure on the sky. The dood on the surfboard is pretty much sillouhete so I don't think you'd lose much and the horizon is flat.
I haven't got a graduated wossname but I suspect it would work. |

Surferby subject22Comment by spiritualspatula: Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Your sky is still blown out so you can up your shutter even more if possible. If you've reached the top of your shutter you could stop down a little so you aren't asking your camera for a higher shutter than it can supply to deal with that much light, or decrease ISO.
You could also do spot meter, meter for sky, recompose with AE lock on surfer, shoot. This way you can still pull some texture out of the sky, or capture more of the morning/evening colors. |

My Kind of Perfectionby subject22Comment by hotpasta: what a wave!...the central horizon doesn't quite work and there is nothing to give this a sense of perspective...rocks??? the foot of the surfer is also a minor distraction...so, in the end, it's just a pic of a wave...5 |
