My guess is people beyond the foreground doors with a screen or blind on the far side of them, all casting shadows and lights onto the doors. That doesn't explain the clear part at the top, does it? Maybe there is condensation on the doors that doesn't go all the way up. Maybe just the angle of the light means that it only falls onto part of the doors.

A sunshower bathing them, saturating their heads with light. A pretty good analogy of what should happen in a school. I like the familiar huddle of children combined with their anonymity.

Hmm, I don't really see this as an abstract, even though I often do see abstracts in perfectly recognizable subjects. I love the image, so the emotional response is there. Btw, peonies are one of my most favourite flowers.
