As the missile launched from the building's silo, desguised to look like a domed tower over a place of learning, the despot laughed. They never saw it coming, and now the world would be his!

Moments later he was informed that due to an unfortunate miscalculation, the missile had struck his cat, Mr. Mittens.

With his patented evil laugh, Dr. Demented poured in the finishing concoction, and stirred the final solution.

"The world shall finally be mine!" He screamed delightedly as he waited for the volatile mixtures to stabilize, and stabilize they did. A little too well, for they simply settled into non-chaotic trio of liquids. There was no bubbling, no foaming, no morassing.

What had he done wrong? Turning to Page 13 of "Chemistry for the Young Chemist", he poured over the instructions.

It was then that he noticed that he'd grabbed Yellow No. 3 instead of Boric Acid.

Dr. Demented didn't earn his name for nothing.

As she rested her head, and gazed into the morning light, her thoughts wandered as a child's are wont to do. From the joys -- a moment playing with Scruffy the dog, the kiss her mother had given her before bed, her daddy coming up the walk after work each day -- to the little traumas -- the skinned knee, that mean boy at school, the death of Petrie the budgie.

With each thought came a subtle change of expression, as the tempest of her mind brought her through the miniature storms of emotions that accompany the whirlwind that is a forming conciousness. At the end, however, a small and subtle smile played upon her lips, and a light came to her eyes, and the world was good and right.

If only for that moment.

Although it was considered amusing at the time, the ritual dance that Jenny had developed during her showers, it became apparent as the years passed that perhaps it wasn't just a funny childhood thing.

On her 20th birthday, when the skies opened up, and hell rained down, nobody was amused at all.

Rose scowled and plotted her revenge, as her friends stood just off frame and laughed amongst themselves.

They weren't going to lose this time. For years they'd come into this little dive. The food was good, the service better, but the reason for their faithful patronage was simple, the staring contest with the shop's mascot, Henry, a box of Cereal with a frog painted on the side.

Moments, later, cursing but laughing, the men congratulated Henry on yet another win. They'd get that frog one day!
