The man, grumpy from the prickle of urban friction and distracted by his texting, almost trips over the puppy and is about to curse at the stupid old woman. Instead, the furry face transfixes him with its bewitching, hairy appeal. He reaches down and scritches the pup between the ears and under the chin. It has a sudden and intense restorative effect. He stands up and strolls away, humming a happy tune. He tosses the phone in his pocket. The woman grins to herself.

This feels like a documentary image about the loss of social gathering places, as we see it in the foreground, with the encroaching glass and metal environment gobbling up everything humane in its path as it expands. Outstanding image.

I also loved the Secret Garden, though this image reminds me more of a tango place I used to go to many years ago, down some steps in a back alley. Very speakeasy.
