Party's over.by RKTComment: Such an offbeat and nearly surrealistic view. Bumped to an 8. |

keeping the monsters outby jmritzComment: My highest in the challenge, something's fishy here...? This shot has it all - composition and an abstract sense of what is (or is not) real. The veil between us and the monster seems inadequate to the task but the power of the mind makes it all work. I like the monster alarm bell too. What a hoot! |

Oh Mom,Where are you?by bnileshComment: This is by far the most creative and visually sensitive image in this challenge. It does so much so well: effective composition, wide range of tones, strong textures and powerfully abstract mood - to name a few notable elements of this shot. What stood out to me at first was the comp with its visual play of flatness vs an artificial sense of depth. The textures and rectilinear shapes establish a flat plane into which the shadows and shape of the cat appear to sink. (And no, I'm not a nut - just reflecting my sensitivity training in visual perception which was part of the Hunter College art curriculum in the 1970s.) The placement of the cat and its relationship to the black rectangle is brilliant and very expressionistic in visually representing abstract feelings - the blackness representing a void in the animal's world. Adding to that is an unexpected heaviness in the way the cat sinks into the normally impervious surface. I dunno about the title - this image is stronger and more complex than that. |

The Bridge to the Eastern Shore by Bear_MusicComment: Very impressive result and thanks for the processing info. It may well finally move me to try some of these available tools. The "1" is beyond comprehension, but I guess we still protect free speech and "honor" the fringe elements. |
