Extremely difficult lighting detracts with some blowouts but there's no denying the the overall impact of the image - very well captured with exceptional detail in the gritty, icy foreground sand grabbing the eye then leading it up to the horizon and hurricane fence and lone figure to give it all an appropriate perspective.

The strong personality dominates the image like few other portraits even without his eyes or maybe because of the substitute sunglasses. But what ultimately grabs my attention aside from the detail of the hat, face and beard is the simple fact that there's no denying the attraction of a genuine smile. Of course a sensitively composed environment helps, On the other hand a minor caveat are the colors which seem a bit artificial. Overall 7 earlier voted.

Whoa - this grabs the eye like a leak from an exploding nuclear plant. I wonder if it could be made more naturalistic but quite possibly nearly impossible with current technology.
