Anyone voting as low as a 2-4 on this shot was clearly tactically voting down a shot they knew would do well. The sharpness, focus, DOF and subject are great in this image and it certainly meets the challenge in my eyes. I gave an 8, I would have gone higher but the man in the foreground does pull my eye since he's so prominant in the photo, even though he and the background man are nicely bokehd. Looking at it again, I wish I'd given it a 9. Congrats on your high placing anyway!

The blown-out patches of skin from the sun catch my eye in this shot, as does the cropped off foot. The focus isn't very strong either. I'd have liked to see this shot in different light as I think it could have been a nice portrait, although the photo doesn't really portray what the title tells us, i.e looking at just the shot I'd have no idea what defining feature was being put across.

I don't find eye close-ups very interesting (just personally) but the focus is really good. Well done on not majorly oversaturating the selective colour as many people do on an edit of this style.

Primitive Smile

This is very hazy and much too close-in on the person (a little boy?) for the viewer to establish any kind of connection. Since your intent was to show his smile, this should have been a more brightly-taken facial shot. Lacks any point of interest as it stands, a low-scorer for me, sorry.

The Eyes

This is almost like a photocopy of another low quality photocopy; insanely noisy, contrast is too dark, no point of focus, seemingly no real thought to composition and the apparent point of interest isn't even really legible. I can just about make out a face but the quality of this image is so low I feel I can't give higher than the minimum vote, sorry.

I'm guessing you've cropped her so far to the right to show off the blown bits of the dandelion clock? Unfortunately there are none as it appears she hasn't blown it yet! Or if she has, the b&w conversion has lost that detail in the busy bokeh in the background. Since the space to the left is moot, I'd have prefered to see a further out shot of her holding the flower, maybe in an outdoorsy nature kind of outfit like a floral dress showing her sitting in the grass, to get more of a natural feel.

This is more a shot of eyelashes than the actual eyes, perhaps it should have been titled as such, since some people might consider long eyelashes a defining feature. I don't mind the perspective but it's far too noisy for me.

Known for his Hat

The yellow saturation is up a little high, it might enhance the colour of the hat but it also gives a weird yellow tinge behind his ear. Great sharp focus though, an interesting character, looks like a real country fan. :-)

Magical Fingers

Good DOF, the lighting is Ok, nice focus on his fingers. Not particularly exciting (especially with the muted colours) but generally quite nice.
