Broken Homeby JSRComment: I really enjoy the dead weathered grass that surrounds the collapsed building, the whole thing sitting as an island on a sea of green. Cool. |

Spinningby ekmaiComment: An interesting nude shot, surely. The pose looks quite awkward for the model, but is visually interesting. I really like the lighting to show all the definition, and the toning works great. |

Hairy Ladybirdby alexlkyComment: Great macro shot. I like the fact that there almost appears to be an expression on the beetle's face. Would have liked to have the tip of the right antenna in focus, but this is very nice. I like the soft light. |

untitled by bspurgeonComment: I really love the stalks reaching towards the viewer and moving. It gives an eery liveliness to the shot that would have been there otherwise. |

Love Is The Stick You Throw by jagarComment: This is great. I think it not only embodies the spirit of the challenge, but also the feel. We all love our animals, and this depicts how we show that and really connect with them. Very nice, and a wonderful shot that illustrates how multifaceted you are. |

light cascade by mitalapoComment: I love the openness, the vastness of this shot. It would be meaningless without the people, but with them... it's great. Excellent. |

Departed Hopes by gyabanComment: I don't mean this negatively, but this is never something I would picture coming from you. I really enjoy the sense of scale, and the message is interesting, as well. Having read your interview, it makes more sense, considering those you admire, as well as considering your "after man" entry, but it is still rather dystopic. Very nice. I didn't vote in this, but would have given this high marks. |

Disposable by crowisComment: You might think of making this a bit warmer- I think it'd add some pow into the rust. Really like the textures on the crushed spraypaint can. |

1/1/12by colorcarnivalComment: One of the more genuine expressions in the challenge, which I think is one of the most important yet difficult aspects of portrait photography. Of course, it's easier when you're the subject to do that, but boy is it hard to trip that shutter sometimes....
I like that you went and did something you're supposed to avoid with portraits (wide angle up very close), it gives an interesting feel to things. |

mmmmmmby CaptUnderpantsComment: I'd say some work with the lighting would've been best on this one-
Since the scale of things is so small here, it wouldn't be too hard to use a sheet of paper relatively low above them reflecting a flash or the light from some constant light source, like a halogen worklamp. Just make sure you lower your ambient light so that you don't have multiple color temperatures.
Placing the paper above it would make the lighting more even and soft because the relative size of the source is large. This way, they wouldn't cast so much of a shadow. |
