Now this uses the same subject matter as another picture in this challenge. This image, however, makes use of the rigid red cap as a backdrop for the lively green liquid. Moving the red cap out of the center of the frame helps to draw the attention to the bubbles in the green liquid. The liquid has a soft, alive contour as opposed to the sharp, distinct outline of the bottle and cap. This composition seems much more alive and interesting to me than the previous post.

Nice subject. I think I would like a tighter composition. I think cropping out everything from just about the center of the screen to the top would leave the picture with the charred lines to contrast against the liquid texture of the bubbles in the bottom of the photo. I feel that the extra brown/copper color at teh top of the image detracts from the focus. Overall I like the picture composition.

The color drew my eye initially. The white background provides a good setting for the contrast between the blue and brass colors.

Detergent

This image doesn't have any good focal point in my opinion. The red cap draws the eye but it doesn't seem to have any action. The action seems to exist in the liquid spilled (because of the bubbles) or in the brilliant green refraction just under the bottle.

In my opinion the white balance is off in this picture. The lefthand pool of spilled liquid blends into the background at the bottom edge. I'm intrigued by the subject matter and the color of the liquid.

Egg

Wow.

The symmetry of the egg is offset by the lack of centering the subject. The colors are intense and the link between the light yellow of the egg cup and the darker yolk provide a link. The running of the soft yolk is visceral and gives the picture some "live action". I think this is an unusual subject and just a great composition.

Ink Blot

I think I would have liked a tighter shot on one of the ink blots with the brass nib penetrating the composition from one of the sides or corners. I find the fingerprints in the ink intriguing. Also the different saturations of the ink and the differences between the dark blots, the random arcs, the lighter spills and the drying ink might make a more powerful composition without the curls on the left side or the writing (the M and the word Love). I definitely like the subject matter. I just think I would have tightened the focus either the ink or the pens with a single blot. I'd like to see your whole series on this subject.

Hmm. on first thought I was interested in seeing this composed more off center but after reviewing it I think the asymmetry of the shadows gives the organic feel that I was looking for with the stark white background. The bottle does blend with the shadows and the spilled paint a little too much for my taste but I like this subject.
