Imagineer's "Pride of London" Remake

AlexSaberiComment: Thanks Alex - very flattering that you chose this shot for your entry.
I've got to say that it feels very strange seeing this - it's almost like deja-vu. Oh, yes, that's the point isn't it.
I think you've done a great job emulating the shot, and the high tide adds a different 'spot-the-difference' kind of element to the photo.
I wouldn't be doing you justice if I didn't commment critically, so:
> you've vastly improved the colour by making it more freshly blue - a change which I've added in the print of this by removing some cyan and yellow
> the detail in the dome is great too - richer and more detailed
> you've caught more detail in the office buildings on the left too
> the high tide has removed a bit of extra feature from the pillars - which I like so much and miss in this version
> you've over-dodged it a tad in the river, pillar and railing areas and I miss some of the reflections
> I'm puzzled by the difference in lighting on the bridge which made me wonder what time of evening this was shot
> I think I prefer a more portrait composition
Thanks for the submission and I hope you take these comments in the friendly spirit they're intended. I hope you gained something from the experience too. I find this kind of process very useful in the same way that performing a cover version in music can be an eye-opener - as I also found myself when entering the Ansel Adams challenge (and I'm not comparing myself here - perisjh the thought).
All the best
Jon
